

She was born on March, 17, 1949 in Wilmington, NC to the late Charles Henry Thompson and Margurite Odessa Thompson.
Carolyn was part of the first graduating class at UNCW to receive her Master’s degree in Education. She enjoyed teaching for 30 years in the Brunswick County School System, most spent at Leland Middle School. She was a long time active member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a Children’s Church teacher and a member of the Young at Heart Club (YAH’s). She was a proud member of the Cape Fear Jewels Red Hat Society, SEANC, NC Retired School Personnel, where she acted as Recording Secretary, NC Sorosis Women’s club and NCAE . She also enjoyed doing numerous volunteer/charity work such as Angel Tree and providing meals for Hospice.
Carolyn also loved her friends and in the last few years created groups to reunite past friendships. She was a magnetic social butterfly creating gatherings for the Lake Forest Girls and Leland Middle School Retired Teachers.
Carolyn is survived by her four blessed children, Charles A. Williams, Jr and wife Lynda, Melanie Huckaby and her husband Monroe, Jason “Brent” Williams and Rebekah Carolynn Williams; her loving and very fortunate grandchildren, Margurite Huckaby, Monroe Huckaby, Charlie Williams and Haylie Williams and also survived by her four legged companion, Dynamite.
Visitation will be held from 6pm to 8pm on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service. Funeral Service will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church, 423 N 23rd Street, Wilmington, NC 28405 with Reverend Donnie Lovette officiating. Interment to follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens.
