He was born on March 21, 1941, in Tabor City, NC, to the late Marion Goldie Powell and Lucy Bell Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons, Marion Dixon Powell, Billy Simmons and Kenneth “Andy” Watts.
Charles worked with Watson Electric for many years and retired from the company in 2003. In his free time, you could find him fishing and being on the water. Charles was a loving husband of 36 years to Judy Evans Powell, father and grandfather.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Judy Evans Powell and his children, Kelvin Powell (Magdalena), Nolan Powell (Shain), Charles Powell (Katie), Amanda Lea Call (Jason), Lisa Watts, Ariel Powell and Dawn Powell; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Andrews Valley Chapel, 4108 College Rd, Wilmington NC. 28412.
Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 1pm until the service hour. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
