

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charles English who departed this life on July 25, 2026, at the age of 76.
Born, raised, and a lifelong resident of Wilmington, NC, Charlie was the beloved son of Byrnina “Hewett” English and Charles English, Sr.
Charlie approached every chapter of his life with purpose and embraced each day as an opportunity to live fully.
Charlie proudly served his country in the US Navy, receiving an honorable discharge. Following his military service, he worked at the railroad and retired as a railroad engineer.
A devoted husband, Charlie, is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah, and many friends.
Charlie had a deep appreciation for the beauty of the world around him. An accomplished photographer he had a remarkable eye for capturing nature and life’s fleeting moments. Whether behind the camera, tending to his garden, catching waves as a surfer or enjoying music, he found joy in the simple pleasures that made life rich and meaningful.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in knowing that Charlie truly lived life to the fullest. His memory will continue to inspire family and friends to embrace each day with determination, kindness, and a deep appreciation for the world around him.
A graveside service will be held at 11am, Friday, July 31, 2026, at Oakdale Cemetery, 520 N. 15th Street, Wilmington, NC 28401.
