He was born July 29, 1943, in Greensboro, North Carolina, to Paul and Pernie Gortman, who preceded him in death, along with his sons, David Gortman and Victor Gortman.
He is survived by his loving partner of 28 years, Sandi Baity; his brother, Randy Gortman and wife Elizabeth; his niece, Andrea Gortman; and his grandchildren, Seth Gortman, Hailey Gortman, Sydney Gortman, Andrew Baity, Tyler Baity and Jorjana Baity.
Larry was a member of the Sun Coast Cruisers Car Club and a past member of the Port City Mopar Club. He loved old cars, the beach, windsurfing and spent the last 15 years of his career at Fort Fisher Recreation Area.
Larry will be forever loved and missed by those he leaves behind, and he will be remembered for the joy he found in classic cars, the beach, and the people who shared his life.
