Charles Steven Mayer Jr., age 69, of Wilmington, North Carolina, lost his battle with cancer on Monday, September 22, 2025. He was born in New Hanover County, North Carolina, on August 22, 1956 to Charles Stephen Mayer, Sr. and Mary Lucille Mayer.
Steve was the youngest and now joins his parents in heaven. Steve is survived by his sisters Connie Gore (Mike), nephew Greg Lewis and niece Charlene Gentry and sister Mary Haney (Carl) and nephew Carl Stephen Haney. Daughter Gwendolyn Mayer. Son Joseph Mayer (Dianna). Daughter Rhiannon Patrick (Curtiss). 3 grandchildren: Travis Patrick, Kristen and Madyx Wilkinson and 2 great-grandchildren.
After his disability, Steve loved writing songs about God’s love and studying the Bible. Music was his hobby, and he always hoped to have his music published.
In honor of Steve, there will be a private family service at a later date.
