Charlie Thomas Parrott, Jr.

A native of Danville, Virginia, Tom was born on Independence Day, 1938, to Minnie Melton Parrott, and Charlie Parrott, Senior.  Upon graduating from Hargrave Military Academy, Tom married his first wife of forty years, Carol, who died of cancer, with him by her side. A devoted father and husband, they raised two children, Alan and Lisa. During those years he worked as a Supply Inspector for the Virginia Tobacco Company. Showing a talent in sketching and painting, Tom also pursued art under the Norman Rockwell Course.  After the death of Carol, while living in Hampstead, NC, Tom married Catherine on January 16, 2004, and lived happily together until his death. Catherine is quoted saying, "He was the best husband that ever lived".  With a love for gardening, and his wonderful wife, Tom was blessed to enjoy his retirement years until his death. They were members of Fellowship Baptist Church.

Tom is survived by his wife, Catherine Guyton Parrott; son, Alan Thomas Parrott (Kriss) of Jetersville, VA; daughter, Lisa Carol Tickle (Kenny) of Keeling, VA, Cathy Manning of Lake Waccamaw, NC, and Renee Wilson (Eric) of Burgaw, NC; seven grandchildren, Victoria Tickle Bass (Matthew), Bradley Tickle, Tyler Parrott, Destiny Cifers (Kenley), Tiffany Rodgers Martin (John), Heather Robinson (Richard), and Shannon Edwards (Brian Ervin); five great-grandchildren, Shelby Rae Bass, Afton Elizabeth Bass, Berkleigh Grace Bass, Steven Rodgers, and Garrett Wilson; two brothers, William “Doc” Lindley (Karen), and Bruce Parrott (Susan); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Parrott.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Fellowship Baptist Church with Pastor Arnold Griffin officiating. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 2:30pm until the service hour.
