September 21, 1942 – July 20, 2025
Constance (Connie) 82, of Wilmington passed away peacefully at home with her daughter, Jennifer and son-in-law, Dan on July 20, 2025.
Connie was born on September 21, 1942 in Washington, D.C., daughter of the late Harold and Ina Devol.
Connie had a successful career in Human Resources in the technology field, but her true passion and calling was taking care of her family and celebrating holidays and birthdays or anything else for that matter.
Connie was a woman of extraordinary generosity, kindness, strength and support.
Connie was beloved by all who knew her. She was a true blessing to family, friends; including her church family at First Christian Church. Her caregivers this past year were a blessing as well, Winema and Blanch are now part of our family.
Connie relished family time; including Molly her beloved pup, eating good food, traveling and listening to music. Willie Nelson, Elvis and Neil Diamond were among her favorites. Connie was a voracious reader, loving the tactile feeling of the pages, but later transitioned to audio books quite seamlessly.
Connie and her husband John were quite a duo and to be in their presence was pure joy! So many stories and such laughter!
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Ina Devol; husband, John F. Phillips. Survivors include sister, Sharon Brown; son, Joe Phillips and wife; daughter, Jennifer Bundgaard and husband, Dan; niece, Michelle Mang and husband, James; granddaughter, Jessica Martin and husband Colin; grandson, Neil Phillips; daughter-in-law Eileen Phillips; great-grandchildren Rett and Nora (mother Krystal); nephews, James, Barry and David; great-nieces, Miranda, Susana, Christen and Katie; great-nephews Brandon and Ryan; Survivors also include numerous cousins and friends.
