David Alan Bogue passed away from this earthly life on May 31, 2024, in Wilmington, NC. Born in Greenfield MA, youngest son of the late Theodore and Flora Bogue, he is survived by Judi, his dedicated and loving wife of 61 years, son Mark, two daughters; Michelle Hufham (Dennis) and Christy Pelletier (Jere), two grandchildren; Connor Hufham, Robert Hufham (Kaitlyn) and a 13 month old great-grandson, Elijah, two older brothers; Donald Bogue and Bill Bogue (Evie), brother- in-law, Fred Hall, and sister-in-law, Bunny Hall who he considered his sister, several nieces and nephews, as well as many extended family members.
Dave proudly served in the Armed Forces for 23 years and was Honorably Discharged from the U.S.A.F. Upon his arrival in Wilmington, he worked for a local trucking company for 5 years, then for the North Carolina State Port of Authorities for 17 years. During retirement he worked for years with W.A.R.M. and U.M.C. Disaster Response Team. He was a life member of the VFW, a member of the American Legion and an active, devoted member of Pine Valley Methodist Church serving monthly as usher and engaged in Bible studies.
He loved spending time with his entire family, and we loved spending time with him. He had a special relationship with both of his grandchildren, finding a mutual love of woodworking with Connor and the love of comics with Robert, especially Calvin and Hobbs. Much laughter ensued from reading those characters together. He also taught both boys how to swim at the local Y.M.C.A.
Dave relished summers at his beloved camp in northern New England with Judi and family. He enjoyed playing cards, shuffleboard, swimming, boating, and was a master counted cross stitcher, producing truly beautiful pieces that are treasured by family and friends. Such a giving and wonderful person, there are no words to express how much he will be missed.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the many doctors, nurses, support staff and friends that cared for, and prayed for Dave and his beloved family for the past 8 years.
A Visitation will be held at 10am on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Pine Valley Methodist Church in the Welcome Center. The Funeral Service will follow at 11am on Thursday, June 6, 2024 in the Sanctuary. Burial will be private.
