David Banks Lewis, Jr. of Wilmington died Wednesday December 24, 2014 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was born in Raleigh, NC, October 15, 1927 the son of the late David Banks Lewis, Sr. and Clara Ellen Gore Lewis. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Joyce Costin, Gladys Hickman, and Leola Pettingil. David is survived by his wife Julia Mae Raynor-Lewis, a daughter, Brenda Byrd and husband Terry, a son Sammy Raynor, grandchildren Chris and Steve Byrd, great grandchildren Christian, Christopher, Audrey, and Julia Byrd and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly, and many life long friends. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Doctors and Nurses at NHRMC who took such good care of him during his illness and especially to Dr. George Sylvestri. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 5 to 6 PM at Andrews Valley Chapel. Private services will be held at a later date.
