

He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Stephens, and is survived by his wife, Tracy Brooks Stephens; sons, William and Samuel Stephens; daughter, Faith Stephens; father Jerry Stephens; brother Berry (Mary); sister, Angie (Greg); nieces, nephews and many beloved relatives.
David was part of the International Paper family for thirty years.
David was full of life and energy. Friends were blessed by his contagious laugh, stories and loving spirit. You may have heard his imitations of a train, chicken, dog or cat, and knew David was close by. David enjoyed the north end, gardening, yardwork, fishing, surfing, and being with his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle, co-worker and neighbor. David’s children have always been the light of his life. He will be loved and missed by all.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Long Leaf Baptist Church, Wilmington. Rev. Josh Riley and David’s cousin, Chaplain Troy Todd will officiate the service. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00 am until the service hour.
A reception / luncheon at the church will take place after the celebration of David’s life, with interment to follow at 2:00 pm on Saturday at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
