Donna Marie May Pennington, 79, of Wilmington, wife to John William Pennington and mother to Shannon Marie Hutchinson and John Michael Pennington, passed away December 30, 2023 after a battle with cancer. Her final moments were spent peacefully in her home in Wilmington, surrounded by family.
Known for her strength, love, dedication to her family and others during her over 40-year career as a nurse, Donna will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Donna’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life not the sadness of her passing. She is survived by her four grandchildren, Chloe Hutchinson, Blake Hutchinson, Cash Pennington, Hadley Pennington, her mother, Mary Rood May, her sister Gayle Wolfe-Bentley, brother Rodney May, brother Michael May and over 30 nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, January 07, 2024, at Andrews Valley Chapel, 4108 South College Rd. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the service hour.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Lower Cape Fear Lifecare.
