

Doreen Marie Johnson, nee Flynn, 60, of Wilmington, died Sunday, October 30, 2011, at home. Doreen was born September 14, 1951 in New York City, daughter of Helen Loring Flynn and the late Francis Flynn. Her husband, David Johnson, and her brother, Francis T. Flynn, preceded her in death. Mrs. Johnson attended St. Therese Catholic Church in Wrightsville Beach. A para-educator, loved by the staff and students at Codington Elementary School, She had an inspirational calling to teach children with special needs. If you knew her, you loved her. She was very important to many people and touched many lives. Doreen was a loving daughter, wife, sister, aunt, godmother, friend, and especially a loving mother. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her daughter, Samantha Johnson of Wilmington; sister, Joanne Miller Steve of North Stonington, CT; two sisters-in-law, Beth Murphy Dennis of Wilmington and Kathy O'Donohue Michael of Raleigh, NC; numerous beloved nieces and nephews; and her Codington Elementary School family. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at Andrews Market Street Chapel. A Mass of the Resurrection will be 11:00am Thursday, November 3, 2011, at St. Therese Catholic Church with Rev. Doug Lawson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Doreen's name to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
