Doris (Shorty) Bertovic Evans, 74, passed away Monday Oct. 12th in Wilmington, NC at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center. She was born in Penn Hills, PA on 9-25-41, the daughter of the late Nicholas Bertovic and Bertha Seaman Bertovic. She was a graduate of Penn Hills High School Class of 1959 and a graduate of Columbia Hospital Nursing School. On June 20, 1964, she married Byron (Ron) Evans in Plum, PA. Doris was an R.N. at Magee Women's Hospital for 35 years. After moving to Raleigh, NC she continued her nursing career at Rex Hospital for 5 years before retiring to Wilmington, NC where she became a full time homemaker. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son Brian Evans and grandson Mason Evans, and also daughter Dr. Dana Evans-Semmel (and husband Dr. Brady Semmel ) all of Wilmington; twin sister Delores Bertovic Scott ( Bernie) and sister Barbara Crnovic; sisters-in-law Barb McBride (Ray) and Beverly DelMoral (Tom). A funeral mass will be held Tuesday October 20th at 11am at St. Mark Catholic Church in Wilmington, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mark Catholic Church 1011 Eastwood Road Wilmington, NC 28403
