Hello Gaye,
Thank you so much for the very kind and vivid memories you shared. To add a humorous note to those memories, I recall several (many) nights when Mom was vocalizing prior to attending choir rehearsal when we heard her screaming; a bat or an owl had flown down the chimney and was flying around the room. Dad and my brothers would rush in to either 'bat' down the bat with brooms or capture the owl and release him/her to the outdoors. Somewhere we still have a picture of the owl that returned for a repeat 'performance' for several years; in the picture he's sitting on Bruce's arm, which Bruce would wrap with a towel so the owl's talons wouldn't dig into his arm. My niece, Amber (Quentin's daughter), found your telephone number for me online; I'd love to talk with you when we all gather for a final goodbye in May.
Again, thank you so much for the lovely memories! ~ Elsbeth (Ellie)

To the family, I want to extend my sympathy for the loss of your mother. Mr. and Mrs. Allcorn were neighbors my entire life. I have so many memories of Mrs. Allcorn listening to and singing opera that rang through the woods. I couldn't forget the "dinner bell" that called the children to meals, or those huge dogs that scared me to death. My brother braved the dogs, and she graciously purchased magazines and other school items that he tried to sell. In later years we enjoyed a neighborhood meal in the back yard. The new owner of the property has maintained it beautifully. Once again I am very saddened by the loss of your mother.
