Dorothy Young Blanton

Dorothy Young Blanton, 87, of Castle Hayne passed away on Tuesday November 3, 2015 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter. She was born on July 18, 1928 in Duplin County, NC to the late, George and Mary Merritt Young. Dorothy is also preceded in death by her husband, Allen Vego Blanton. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Teresa Flynn (Edmund), Velvadeane Wisecarver (Tim) and Joyce Benton (Edwin); ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. The trueness of her heart was revealed when she said of herself, "I hope I can be humble and submissive to the Lord as long as He gives me strength, humility to love my family, and do what I can for my family." Her reverence for the Lord was the foundation of her life that enabled her to live the "Giving Life". Her giving life was truly evidenced by the way she gave herself willingly and wholeheartedly to her family, to church and to her 25 years work career with Belk's. A visitation will be held from 10-11am Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel where funeral services will begin at 11am. Burial will follow the service at Bordeaux Cemetery, Castle Hayne.
