Dot was born May 3, 1932, in Warsaw, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Henry Noel Blackburn and Sallie Dunn Blackburn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Earl Miller, her first husband, Joe Artis Grady, two sisters and two brothers.
Dot dedicated her life to faith, family, and service. She was a devoted longstanding member of Wrightsboro Baptist Church where she served faithfully in the women’s ministry, taught Sunday School and on many church committees, as well as volunteered in many other capacities to serve for her Lord. She co-founded a local family subcontracting business with her husband for over 20 years until their retirement. She found joy in simple moments: reading her Bible in the quiet of the morning, gardening, and cooking delicious meals for her family and friends. Following her retirement, she enjoyed many adventurous trips with her husband and spending quality time with her family.
Dot is survived by her brother Jimmy Blackburn of Warsaw, NC; her daughter, Jerri Miller of Castle Hayne; her sons, Steve Grady (Marla) of Wilmington and Gary Miller of Wilmington; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Though she will truly be missed by all who knew her, they can rejoice in the promise of eternal life and take comfort in knowing she is now at peace with her Savior.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private family burial will be held prior to the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dot’s memory may be made to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare.
