Dorothy Schaffer Osborne of Leland died Tuesday July 15, 2008 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She was born December 18, 1928 in Pittsburgh, PA daughter of the late John Walter Schaffer and Letitia Sheridan Schaffer and was preceded in death by her devoted husband Ed C. Osborne and her brother J. Walter Schaffer. Dorothy and Ed were married July 2, 1949 and lived in Pittsburgh until they moved to Edinboro, PA in 1964 where they owned the College Book Store until their retirement in 1979. In 1985 they moved to the Wilmington area. She was named volunteer of the year for the Cape Fear Museum in 1995 and Thalian Hall in 2006. She is survived by her nieces Janet Jula and family of Freedom, PA, Susan Antonini and family of Freedom, PA, nephew John Schaffer and wife Amy of Mars, PA, sister-in-law Genevieve Schaffer of Baden, PA and her many sisters in the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Interment will be at a later date in Richland Cemetery, Dravosburg, PA. Memorials may be made to the charity of ones choice.
