Dr. Ernest Stuart Benson Jr. of Wilmington, NC died on June 21, 2009. He was born April 22, 1918 in Wilmington, NC. He was the son of the late Ernest Stuart Benson Sr. and Lena Craig Benson, and was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Benson Formy-Duval. Dr. Benson practiced dentistry in his beloved hometown of Wilmington for thirty years. He retired in 1980. He was a graduate of Wake Forest University and the Medical College of Virginia. He was a member of the Cape Fear Club and the ?21? Club. He also served on the Library Board. Throughout his long and fulfilling life he was fortunate to travel all over the world but he loved the return home to Wilmington the best. He was an avid gardener, in his late years he could still be seen working long hours in the garden. He is survived by his son, Stuart York Benson and daughter Kay Elizabeth Cooper. A graveside service will be held 11 am Wednesday June 24, 2009 at Oakdale Cemetery.
