

Dr. Julius A. Green passed away September 8, 2012. Julius was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his many friends and family. He was born in High Point, NC on March 17, 1932, the son of Nell and Julius Green. He lived his childhood in Thomasville, NC and graduated from Thomasville High School. Julius graduated Phi Beta Kappa from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and from medical school at UNC, where he also completed his medical internship. Julius was a resident for one year at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas, after which he spent two years in the U.S. Air Force as a flight surgeon. After returning to Chapel Hill to complete a three-year residency in Radiology, Julius joined Wake Radiology in Raleigh where he would practice for the next 20 years. Julius was a Fellow in The American College of Radiology and served as president of the North Carolina chapter in 1976. Julius was always an accomplished athlete, and an active member of the Raleigh Racquet Club, The Sir Walter Raleigh Ski Club and a life long Tar Heel fan. His retirement years were spent traveling to The Cayman Islands and at home in Wrightsville Beach, NC where he was a member of Wrightsville United Methodist Church and Landfall Country Club. Julius is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pearl, as well as his daughter and son-in-law Jane and Rick Fine of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren: Lauren Houghton of Wrightsville Beach, Trent Houghton of Nashville, Anna Fine of Denver, Ali Fine of Athens, GA and Bobby Fine of Atlanta. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Julius will be held at 11:00am on September 18th, 2012 at Wrightsville United Methodist Church.
