

Dr. T. Stephen Patterson, 77, of Princeton Jct., NJ, died Tuesday, January 25, 2011. He was born on December 3, 1933 in Chicago, IL, the son of the late William and Beverly Norris Patterson. Dr. T. Stephen Patterson served as Chief of Psychological Services and Professional Development for the State of New Jersey for thirty-seven years, retiring in May 2009. He also had a private psychological practice in Princeton Jct., NJ. He was a member and past-Chair of the NJ Board of Psychological Examiners. Dr. Patterson received a number of prestigious recognitions and awards including , the National Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers' Award for Recognition of Distinguished Achievements in Training Psychology Interns. He also was recognized as Psychologist of the Year by the NJ Psychological Association. Over his career, he trained hundreds of psychologists and psychology interns who remember him for his professionalism and concerned and gentle spirit. Dr. Patterson was a Founder of the renowned Catholic Memorial School in West Roxbury, MA. He was a member of St. David the King Roman Catholic Church in Princeton Jct., NJ. Surviving is his wife, Dr. Judith E. Patterson of Princeton Jct., NJ; a son, William Leo Patterson and wife Kristen Smeltzer Patterson of Watertown, MA; two grandchildren, William Davis Patterson and Cole Thomas Patterson; a brother, Dr. David Patterson of St. Simons Island, GA; and six nieces of South Carolina. Also remembered is a sister, Joy Ferlita, and a brother, Jerome Jerry Patterson, both of who preceded him in death. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 am Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at St. Mary Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel.
