

Earl Harding Hendricks, 82, of Wilmington, died Sunday, October 07, 2012, at Trinity Grove, in Wilmington. He was born April 10, 1930, in Davey County, to the late Willie G. and Susie Hunter Hendricks. Earl was a veteran of the US Army and proudly served between 1952 and 1954. He graduated from Appalachian State University in 1952 and received his Masters of Education from University of SC in 1956. From 1957-1967, he served as Assistant Dean of Records at the University of SC and was the Assistant Dean of Registration from 1967-1972 at Tennessee Technological University. In 1972, until 1996, he was the Registrar at Lander University in Greenwood, SC. He loved students and helping them and their families. In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his sisters, Wilma Chafin (JC), Ruth Hendricks, Grace Hendricks and Edna Rudd (Phillip) and brothers, Paul Gray Hendricks (Rosa Lee), Lester Hendricks (Peggy) and James Hendricks (Mildred). Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Betty S. Hendricks; son, Donald Hendricks of El Paso, TX; daughter, Kimberlea Williford and husband Carl of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren, Kayla Williford, Carl "Trey" Williiford III and Ashley Williford; brother, L.D. Hendricks of Mocksville, SC; sister-in-law, Mildred Hendricks; brother-in-law, Phil Rudd and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11am, Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Wilmington, NC with Dr. Jim Everette and Rev. Rachel L. Connelly officiating. The family will receive visitors, one hour prior to the service, at the church. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Special thanks to the family at Trinity Grove who cared for and loved Daddy during his illness.
