Ed was born on January 5, 1934 in Wilmington, NC, son of the late Joseph Phillip Letendre and Mary Lillie Hines Letendre. He is also preceded in death by 2 brothers, A. Phillip Letendre and William G. Letendre.
Ed served proudly in the United States Coast Guard for 20 years and worked for 22 years at General Electric until his retirement.
Ed was very talented in many different subjects; a skilled woodworker, he enjoyed carving wood and building canoes. He was a gifted gardener and enjoyed many outdoor activities such as working on his fruit trees to hunting and fishing. A natural born talker he never met a stanger and will sadly be missed by all that got to know him.
Ed is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Rivenbark Letendre; daughters, Janice (Richard) Bosserman and Sandra (Paul) Mazzola; son, E. Eric (Tracye) Letendre, Jr.; 3 sisters, Alice (Ron) Sullivan, Cornelia Strand and Laura Mintz; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and his dog, Riley.
Visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm pm on Sunday June 15, 2014 at Coble Ward- Smith Funeral Home, 3915 Oleander Drive Wilmington, NC 28403.
Funeral Service will be at 2:00pm on Monday June 16, 2014 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Drive Wilmington, NC 28409 with Military Honors.
