Edward A. Ruffin

Edward A. Ruffin, (Ruff), 79, died October 4, 2010 at Davis Health Care center due to Parkinson’s complications. Edward was born on June 28, 1931 in Princeton, NJ to Julia and Roscoe Ruffin. He was educated in the Princeton School system, was a proud United States Air Force Sergeant Rt. with 21 years of service. For many years he was a self employed electronics technician retiring in 1992 from Plasma Physics Laboratory, Princeton University. Judy and Ruff met and married in Princeton where they resided until retiring to Wilmington, NC in 1992. While in Princeton, Ruff was a member of the American Legion Post 218 and the Cavaliers Club.

Ed was an avid golfer and member of Echo Farms Golf Club. He was an active member of the Air Force Sergeants Association for the past 32 years, serving as President for several years in AFSA Chapter 325. His volunteer activities spanned many years including 15 years with the New Hanover Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, also Hospitality House; New Hanover County Veteran’s Council’s; Regional representative for the NC Council on Aging; a member of the Homeless Interagency Council and for many years delivered Meals on Wheels.

He is predeceased by his mother and father; brother James Ruffin; sister Bernice Jones; daughter Pamela Larson. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 34 years, Judith Ruffin; daughter Victoria Larson of PA; daughter-in-law Vicky Glosson of NJ; sons Glenn Larson (Val) of PA, Scott Larson (Beverly) of Wilmington, NC; and Kevin Turner of NJ, granddaughters Carla Glosson, Sherri, Corrin and Imani Turner of NJ, Kaila and Marissa Larson of PA, also loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home, Oleander Chapel , on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at 3:00 PM. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 PM, until time of service.
