

He was born in New Brunswick NJ on May 16, 1949 to parents Frank & Charlotte Wittkofsky. He was preceded in death by: Frank & Charlotte Wittkofsky, brother Frank Wittkofsky & brother John Rusch.
He is survived by: wife, Debra; daughter, Sandra Wittkofsky Taylor & husband Charles; son, Edward B. Wittkofsky Jr.; son, Richard Merritts & wife Jade; brothers, Joseph Rusch & Mark Rusch; 11 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren, with another great grandchild on the way. He loved & cared his family & friends deeply.
Born 1949 and raised in East Brunswick NJ, he then moved to North Carolina in 1984, then started Skip’s Tire where himself & wife Debra have been running for 40 years in Leland NC.
Skip had a heart for children which made him organize Dare to Care for Children, a non-profit organization. He helped families in need and put smiles on sick children’s faces. He helped as many as he possibly could.
Skip had a love for motorcycles & had been building motorcycles since his early 20’s, which inspired him to create DaDog Choppers. He spent countless hours searching for unique parts, paint schemes and has built some of the most beautiful motorcycles ever seen. He was very proud of the 1st. place trophy that he had received from Easy Ryder competition. A hobby that he truly loved.
He also had a passion for race cars, another hobby that he spent countless hours, racing & repairing. He loved spending that time with his friends and recollecting those memories.
Skip had a big heart for animals. Loved his pets dearly and had many of them throughout the years.
Skip loved gun shows, collecting them as well as going to the gun range to practice. Was a huge sports fan, collecting a ton of memorabilia. Loved shopping & flea markets.
Other than all his hobbies he donated his time to do all he could for his community, including his many years of time with the local & International D.A.R.E. program to help youths.
But most of all he loved family & friends dearly. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held from 12:00pm to 2:00pm on Saturday August 8, 2026 at Coble Funeral & Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1155 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, North Carolina 28412.
Funeral Service will start at 2:00pm in the Coble Chapel. Committal Service will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Drive, Wilmington, NC, 28409.
