Elizabeth Horne

She was born on July 4, 1913 in Onslow Co., NC, daughter of the late Barney Counsil Leary and Penny Ann Lloyd Leary.

Elizabeth had always been the one to prepare the food and wait on her family. She is now able to sit at the Lord’s table and enjoy the feast the Lord has prepared for her.

She was a member of the Pine Valley Church of God, loved animals and working outside tending her garden and growing flowers in her yard. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbor and friend. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her.

Including her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Horne in 1986; daughter, Loretta Dabney; great grandson, Britton Ballard; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Skipper and her husband Charlie of Castle Hayne and Tressie Massengill and her husband Robert (Bob) of Wilmington; 9 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; special niece, Gloria Hurst along with several nieces and nephews; special caregiver, Arlene and special friend and hairdresser, Alice Wells.

Family will receive friends on Friday June 29, 2012 from 11:00am to 12:00pm at the Pine Valley Church of God, 3810 Shipyard Blvd Wilmington, NC 28403.

Funeral Service will be held at 12:00pm on Friday June 29, 2012 at the Pine Valley Church of God with Pastor J.D. Simmons and Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. Graveside Service will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
