Elizabeth "Lib" J. McCarthy

 She was born November 3, 1922, in Garner, NC, to the late Junius C. Johnson and Mae Ola Austin Johnson.  She married Charles Herbert McCarthy on October 7, 1942.

 Lib had great joy in being with her children and grandchildren.

 She was very active in her church serving as Sunday School teacher, choir member and ladies’ groups and served as a voluntary missionary in Botswana, Africa

She had a great sense of humor and loved to be with people.

 Her husband preceded her in death in 1973.

 Survivors include her two children, Libby Oldham and her husband Larry and Herb McCarthy and his wife Suzanne; seven grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

 Service will be at Cornerstone Baptist Church located at 2730 Northchase Parkway SE, at 12 Noon on Thursday, December 28, 2017. One hour prior to the service, the family will receive friends at the church. Interment will be in Oleander Memorial Gardens following the service.

 Rev. Daniel Gillespie will lead this celebration of life.

 Special thanks to Trinity Grove facility where Lib lived for over 4 years. The staff and administration gave her special care and were so very attentive to her needs especially in the days leading to her death. We are very thankful for their caring & thoughtful attention.

 A special fund has been set up at her church, Cornerstone Baptist Church to provide an opportunity to express our gratitude to her loving and consistent service to her church over the years.
