Elizabeth "Lib" Schultz

Elizabeth “Lib” Luther Schultz, 87, of Wilmington, NC, died Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Davis Health Care Center.

Lib was born December 3, 1933 in Winston-Salem, NC, a daughter of the late Marion Elmer Luther and Gladys Dixon Luther. Her husband, Thomas Edmund Schultz and her son-in-law, Kendall Smith Lewis, preceded her in death.

She was a founding member of Covenant Moravian Church and was very active in the Women’s Fellowship and the annual Candle Tea & Bazaar for many years. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Primary Education from U.N.C. Greensboro and went on to teach primary school in various school systems.

Lib first met her husband-to-be in the sixth grade, continued their love as high school sweethearts, and eventually married. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved reading, puzzles, bowling and square dancing.

She is survived by her sister, Martha Dixon “Dickie” Luther Shelton of Winston-Salem, NC; three children, Lynne Schultz Lewis (Sterling Moore) of Wilmington, NC, Mary Beth Schultz Chalk (Greg) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Tom “Tommy” Schultz (Margaret) of Hickory, NC; and five grandchildren, Rodney Kyle Lewis (Sarah) of Wilmington, NC, Andrew Braxton Chalk of Charleston, SC, David Thomas Chalk of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Rachel Schultz Snipes (Shawn) of Sherrills Ford, NC, and Claire Schultz of Winston-Salem, NC.

A Graveside Celebration of Lib’s Life will be held at 11:00am on Friday, August 13, 2021, at Forsyth Memorial Park, 3771 Yadkinville Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106, with Rev. Betty Helms officiating.

The family sends a loving and grateful “Thank you” to all of her caregivers at Champions Assisted Living and the Davis Health Care Center.
