

He was born November 11, 1943 in Wilmington, NC, the son of the late Silas Elwood Sneeden and Mary Richards Sneeden. He was also preceded in death by a son, Elwood (Junior) Sneeden, Jr.; a sister Barbara Gail Favreau; and a brother Glenn Sneeden.
Elwood was dedicated to his family, friends and his church, Northside Baptist Church. He loved to build and repair things with is own hands. He loved animals – especially his black cat – Fluffy. He will be remembered as a loving father, gramps, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to all that had the pleasure of meeting him.
Surviving is his daughter, Lorell Sneeden-Haraldson; grandsons, Dakota and Keegan Haraldson; sisters, Betty Lou Sneeden (Mike), Mary Ellen Barnhill (Ronnie) and Dorothy Clark (Rex); and a brother, Ronnie Sneeden (Judy), all of Wilmington, NC; and a step-mother, Elsie Sneeden. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, friends (both new and old), and most importantly, his cat, Fluffy.
The family would like to express a special note of thanks to Dr. Andy Schreiber and staff of the Zimmer Cancer Center at NHRMC; and to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Nurses and Staff, with a special thanks to Wendy and Gina.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 29, 2013 from 11:00-12:30 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home at 3915 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC 28403.
A funeral service will immediately follow visitation at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home by Rev. Rob Strickland.
Graveside Service will follow in Richards Family Cemetery off Cowpen Landing Road, Wilmington, NC 28405.
Pallbearers: Charlie Almond, Jamie Almond, Larry Capps, Dean DeTore, Randy Haraldson, Todd Lindquist, Sonny Porter and Chris Valverdie. Honorary Pallbearers: Members of his Sunday School Class.
