

David was raised in Long Leaf Hills and was a student at Winter Park Elementary, Roland Grise Middle, and Hoggard High School. He attended East Carolina University and later returned to Wilmington to open Sunshine Carpet Cleaners which became his life-long career from 1979 – 2021. Upon retiring in 2021, David moved to Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina where he lived until his passing.
David will be remembered by all those who knew him for his witty demeaner and relentless work ethic. To his family and friends, he will be remembered for his heartfelt love, dedication, and protection. David will be remembered by his son for his unconditional and unadulterated love, for his unrelenting commitment, and for his unapologetic support.
David is survived by his wife Lynne Brown, son Zachary Horne, daughter in law Heather Horne, step children Stan, Jason, and Amy L. Brown, sister Debbie Bell, brother Gregory Horne, grandchildren Annabelle, Sawyer, Landon Horne, and Gavin and Sophia Brown, nieces Lauren, Kylie, and Joanna, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his son, Stephen Randolph Horne.
A visitation will be held at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel on Saturday March 16, 2024, at 2pm followed by David’s memorial service at 3pm.
