He was born on June 18, 1942 in Duplin County, North Carolina, son of Paul Knowles and Ruby Poirier.
He is survived by his wife, Dinah Teachey Knowles, who passed away on July 9, 2025; sons, Alan, Eric and Warren Knowles; brothers, Larry Knowles and Bob Knowles.
A Celebration of Life Service for Dinah and Ervin will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Graveside in Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Dr, Wilmington, NC 28409. Military Honors for Ervin will be held at the Service.
