Ethel Irene Johnson Bunting

Ethel Irene Johnson Bunting, 92, of Wilmington, died Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Davis Health Care Center. Ethel was born February 19, 1922 in Portland, Maine, daughter of the late John Oscar Johnson and Annie Anderson Johnson. Her brother, Harold, preceded her in death, as did her two step-brothers, Ralph and Arthur Tobiassen, and her step-sister, Gladys Tobiassen Peterson. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, James Moulton Bunting; three children, Jim Bunting (Christine), John Bunting (Dawn) all of Hampstead, NC, and Paul Bunting (Karen) of Annapolis, MD; three grandchildren, Rebecca Bunting (Craig Pacelli), Kimberly Bunting (Matthew Smith), and Brooks Bunting; and two great-grandchildren, Louisa Bunting and Sunniva Pacelli. She graduated from Portland High School in Portland, Maine and attended Northeastern Business College, also in Portland. During World War II, while her husband served as an officer in the Army stationed in Germany, Ethel worked for the Army Quartermaster Corps at Cameron Station in Alexandria, Virginia. She was a long-standing member of Augustana Lutheran Church, Washington DC and Saint Stephens Lutheran Church, Silver Spring, Maryland. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, in the Chapel at Davis Health Care Center, 1011 Porters Neck Road in Wilmington, with Rev. Rudy C. Shepard officiating. A private interment will follow at Sea Lawn Memorial Park in Hampstead.
