Evelyn Gray

Evelyn was born September 24, 1936 in Lehigh, Iowa, daughter of the late Archie Robert Duckett and Sadie Margaret Cahill Duckett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Gray and her 2 daughters, her sister and one brother.

In the 87 years that she lived Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother to all of us.  She was full of wonderful stories about growing up on a farm in Iowa, raising her children and working many different jobs throughout the years to keep food on the table.  She retired from Garrett Air Research in the late 1980’s as a welder and took up golfing with her husband Joe, which they both loved.  She loved to shop at all of the thrift stores and especially Hobby Lobby.  She adored making beaded bracelets and earrings and giving them out to anyone that was interested.  She was a fighter until the end and she will be greatly missed by her family.

Evelyn is survived by her son and his wife, one brother and his wife, her stepson and stepdaughter and her husband and many granddaughters, grandsons, great granddaughters and great grandsons all spread out between Wilmington, NC to California.

Per her wishes, there will be no services at this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lower Cape Fear Life Care.
