Born in Winston Salem April 14,1933, she was the daughter of Harris Evans and Lois Peterson. Growing up on her grandfather’s farm in Brunswick County’s Northwest Community, she shared her childhood with seven aunts and uncles who were like siblings to her. She always remembered the love and affection of that family as the best days of her youth. Evelyn graduated from Leland High School in 1952. She married her high school sweetheart, Carl Hall in 1955 and began a fifty-four-year adventure in life, raising a family and loving each other.
As her husband began his career as an Air Force pilot, Evelyn leaned into her role as an Air Force wife. Whenever Dad was overseas, and he was overseas a lot, Mom was always there holding the family together. Wherever the Air Force took the family, Evelyn created a happy and loving home for twenty years, no matter what the circumstance.
Evelyn and her family returned to their home on South Harbor Island permanently in 1975. She spent many years working at the Bank of North Carolina in Wrightsville Beach, where she developed warm relationships with residents, students, and others who considered Wrightsville home. In retirement Evelyn and Carl enjoyed their sailboats and being “Snowbirds”, wintering in Florida with friends.
Evelyn was a multi decade member of Wrightsville Beach Baptist Church and the Hanover Seaside Club. She loved sitting on the beach with her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Carl in 2009. She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Hall Clark, son, Carlton G. Hall Jr. and his partner Marci McAllister, and grandchildren, Carlton G. Hall III, William A. Hall, and Elizabeth W. Hall.
Funeral services are at Wrightsville Beach Baptist Church on Saturday, February 7th at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Goshen Fellowship Church cemetery.
The family thanks Hospice of Swansboro and Evelyn’s Wrightsville Beach Baptist Church family for their years of care and support.
