Frances O. Cox

Frances Oleeta Long Cox, 87, of Rocky Point, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of her family, on Tuesday, March 8, 2022.  She was born April 26, 1934, the daughter of the late Jabie Walton Lee and Lottie Jane Hardee Lee. 

Frances was preceded in death by husbands Hugie Oree Long and John Cox, son Michael Long, daughter Cynthia Long, great-granddaughter Bailey Long, sister Betty Haire, and brothers Ivey and Major Lee. Frances is survived by two sons, Douglas Long of Wilmington, Scottie Long (Lesia) of Rocky Point; and one daughter Linda O'Quinn (Terry) of Loris, SC; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Frances enjoyed working as a CNA for many years. She liked taking care of folks that needed extra attention. 

She enjoyed spending time with family and always showered them with love and affection because family was most important to her.

Frances also enjoyed flowers and gardening and would spend hours in her yard and flower beds. She always took pride in keeping her home and yard neat and pretty.

Frances was a strong, hard-working woman. She was widowed at the age of 40 with five children to raise.  She stepped up and became a mom and dad. She made the necessary decisions for her family and worked very hard to provide for them. 

She was loving, kind and generous to everyone she met. She entertained folks she barely knew on holidays because they had nowhere else to go. 

She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 10, at Andrews Mortuary, 1617 Market St., Wilmington, 28401, where friends may call from 10:00 AM until time of services.   Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 11, at the Hardee Cemetery in Loris, SC.
