

Franklin Malone Floyd, 92 passed away on September 1, 2018 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington, NC. He was born on November 11, 1925 in Horry County, SC to Wilbur and Isla Floyd. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Hewlett Floyd, his parents, his sisters Doris Cantrell and Sybil Hewlett and brother Lamar Floyd.
Franklin served in the Navy in World War II, stationed in the South Pacific as a captain of a landing boat. He opened Floyd Braces & Limb’s, Inc. in 1953 and began his career of being an orthotist and prosthetist. He has been a member of Rotary International since 1955 as well as a long-time member of Oleander United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his children Michael Floyd and wife Pat, Charlene Waggett and husband Davie and Susan Grimstead and husband Michael, 5 grandchildren, Kady Taylor (Jay), Blair Waggett (Chrissy), Brooke Batts (Stephen), Valerie Hall (Murphy) and Lydia Grimstead; and 7 great grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors from 6-8pm, Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at Oleander United Methodist Church, 5810 Oleander Dr., Wilmington, NC 28403
A memorial service will be held at 11am, Thursday, September 6, 2018, at Oleander United Methodist Church.
