Frederick (Ricky) Dean Waters Jr. passed away on November 1, 2020 at Lower Cape Fear Life Care, Wilmington, NC. Ricky was born January 6, 1959 to the parents of Frederick Dean Waters Sr. (deceased) and May Briscoe Waters.
Ricky’s first job was working at Babies Hospital as an orderly. He had also worked as a bus driver for the New Hanover County School system. He left his mark on the Wilmington landscape as a brick mason for over thirty years. He enjoyed playing guitar with friends, NASCAR races, camping, surfing, fishing and skate boarding. He was a known fixture at Wizard Skateboard Park. Known to his friends as the “Mayor” of Seagate. Ricky’s favorite slogan was Seagate born, Seagate bred and when I die I will be Seagate dead.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his sisters: Elizabeth Scott (Tom), and Jeannie Kentrolis; nieces; a great nephew; his forever friend, Susan Nucci and lifelong friends: Mark Watkins and JD Collins.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Coble Funeral & Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1155 Shipyard Blvd., Wilmington, NC. A surfer’s ceremony will be held at 11am on Sunday November 8, 2020 at Wrightsville Beach, Columbia Street.
