Gene Evelyn Stewart

Gene Evelyn Stewart died peacefully January 27, 2014 at the Commons at Brightmore in Wilmington, NC. She would have been 103 in June. Evelyn Stewart was born in Huntsville, Alabama on June 13, 1911. She was the daughter of Carrie Penney Cawthon and George Herbert Cawthon. She grew up in Pittsburgh, Pa, and lived for many years in Flat Run, Fairmont and Vienna, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Merl Stewart, and by her children, Richard Earl Stewart and Barbara Merle Fluharty, grandson, Randolph Fluharty and sisters, Louise Finnecy, Ophelia Tuite, Juanita Williams and brother George Cawthon, Jr. She is survived by her son Alan Stewart (Kay) and stepdaughter Anna Timmins of Springfield, VA., grandchildren Grant Stewart of Wilmington, NC, Diana Gill (Gary) of Gallipolis, Ohio, Darlene Samuels and Donna Fluharty of Sarasota, Fla, Richard Stewart, Jr., Evelyn Matthews and Ramona Stewart of Tucson, Arizona, and great-grandchildren, Gary Gill Jr., Jason Gill, Jessica Engelhard, Dustin Fluharty, Gayla Samuels and several great-great-grandchildren.
