He was born in Eastover, SC on July 31, 1952, to the late Benjamin B. James and Lucy Lorick James.
George worked as a heavy crane operator for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marsha Jo James and three brothers, Benjamin B., John S. and Wayne F. James.
Survivors include his brother, Walter “Butch” D. James; sister, Linda J. Sweat; longtime friend, Barbara “Miss B” Batson and his pet, Waylon Jennings James.
A memorial service will be held at 11am, Thursday, July 28, 2016, at Greenfield Baptist Church, 1401 South 3rd St., Wilmington, NC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center, 1414 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401.
