

George retired from the National Linen Service after working there for 42 years. He was a member of the College Acres Baptist Church and was a man of outstanding character and values. In his spare time he was an avid mall walker at the Independence Mall, enjoyed fishing, and was a Shriner. George was a very generous, giving, and loving person and was loved by many people. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and was a great role model to those around him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian Milliken; daughter, Peggy Shelby; brothers, Glen Milliken and Leston “Dig” Milliken.
He is survived by a son, George “Wayne” Milliken and wife Gail of Wilmington; daughter Cathy Miller of Wilmington; three grandchildren, Michael Shelby of Clarksville, TN, Dawn Riggins of Clarksville, TN, and Melissa Garganta of Greenville, SC; and two great-grandchildren, Zachrey O’Neal and Shelby Riggins, both of Clarksville, TN.
A visitation will be Wednesday, May 23, 2012 from 6 to 8 PM at Coble Ward-Smith, Oleander Chapel. A funeral service will be Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Coble Ward-Smith, Oleander Chapel officiated by Bill McNeil. A Masonic Funeral Service will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society.
