It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father George Malcolm Morse, Jr, a man of remarkable distinction and unwavering integrity.
Born on September 18, 1939, in Goldsboro, North Carolina, George's early years were spent in Wilmington, where he laid the foundation for a life marked by dedication and service.
After graduating from New Hanover High School in 1957, George embarked on a journey of education and service to his country. His commitment led him to enlist in the U.S. Army, where he received an Honorable Discharge in 1965.
Following his military service, George joined AT&T Long Lines in 1965, where he demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication as a technician specializing in electronic switching equipment for Military Telecommunications Networks. His illustrious career spanned 24 years, culminating in his honorable retirement in 1989.
Post-retirement, George continued to serve his community, working as a consultant for Planning Research Corporation and earning a Virginia Real Estate License. In 1990, he joined The U.S. Department of the Treasury as a Telecommunications Specialist, later transitioning to the Department of Homeland Security post-9/11. George retired from Government in 2007. He and Faye moved to the Outer Banks NC, returning to Wilmington NC in 2010, and settling in Cary NC in 2018.
George's legacy extends beyond his professional accomplishments. A devoted family man, he shared a loving union with his high school sweetheart, Faye R. Woodcock, and was a cherished father to their three children, Angela, Phillip Sr, and Teresa. His pride and joy further extended to his five beloved grandchildren, Phillip Jr, Colin, Alexa, Fletcher, and Samantha, and two great-grandchildren, Brodie and Felix.
In addition to his professional and familial roles, George was an esteemed member of the Azalea Coast Amateur Radio Club and a revered Master Mason since 1970.
George leaves behind a legacy of dedication, service, and love that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A graveside service for George will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Sea Lawn Memorial Park.
