George Ramsey of Hubert, NC, born on October 9, 2026, in Southport, NC, to Blanche Hewett Ramsey, peacefully passed away on October 9, 2026, in Winnabow, NC. He is preceded in death by his partner of 30+ years, Helen Sanders Wilson, and his grandson, Robert Hicks Jr. He leaves behind his sisters, Betty Sneeden and Diana Brady; his daughter, Anguela Silva; and his stepdaughter, Connie Wilson. He also leaves behind his three granddaughters and his five great-grandchildren.
George, also known as Donnie, never knew a stranger. He could tell the best stories, always make you laugh, would give the shirt off his back to help someone, and was a good friend to many. Donnie enlisted in the U.S. Navy but was injured in an accident before his 90 days of active duty was completed where he had to relearn how to walk. Throughout his civilian career, he was known as a jack-of-all-trades, but he was especially one hell of an amazing painter and painted many of the houses on Emerald Isle and the surrounding areas. He retired from Odum's Garage in Swansboro, NC.
In his spare time, Donnie enjoyed fishing, painting, tinkering in his garage and on his trucks, watching NASCAR, and watching planes take off and fly overhead. Anyone who knew Donnie knew two things to be 100% true. He was a hell of a good man, and he worshipped the ground his daughter walked on.
George will always be loved and greatly missed.
George will be cremated at Coble Funeral & Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Per his wishes, he will have a direct cremation without a service and be handed over to his daughter, Anguela Silva, to save on costs.
George kindly requested no flowers, plants, or food during his family's time of grief. Instead, he asked that Memorial donations be made in his memory to cover his expenses.
