George Edward Stafford

            George was born May 17, 1939 in Buffalo, NY, son of the late George Carlton Stafford and Teresa Gwizdalska Stafford. A brother, Bobby Stafford, preceded him in death.

            George was a very patriotic and adventurous man, who loved to live life on the edge. He had a high mechanical aptitude and talent and retired from IBM. He was a Master Gardener who loved sweets, Big Band music, traveling, hunting, playing poker, and skiing. George was a wonderful and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend.

            He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Margo Stafford; five children, his two daughters, Cheryl Anne Perna (James) of Rochester, NY, and Lynn Marie Stafford of Churchville, NY, and three sons, Paul Richard Stafford of Union City, CA, George Michael Stafford (Tania) of Apex, NC, and Timothy James Stafford (Yuly) of Clifton, NJ; ten grandchildren, Nicholas, J. Jason, and Ryan (Morgan) Perna, and Joshua, Brianna, Kayla, Dylan, Lillian, and Isabel Stafford, and Matthew Sadler; and two brothers, Paul Stafford (Maureen) and John Stafford (Mary).

            The family will receive friends from 7pm to 9pm Thursday, February 18, 2016, at Andrews Hampstead Chapel.

            A Funeral Mass will be held at 11am Friday, February 19, 2016, at All Saints Catholic Church with Rev. John Durbin officiating.

            In lieu of flowers, contributions in George’s memory may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
