Glenn L. Neighbour, Sr

He was born and raised in Neptune, New Jersey, son of Stanley and Winifred Neighbour who preceded him in death. He grew up alongside one sister and three brothers and spent much of his life at the Jersey shore; a place that would remain home to him and his family for decades.

Glenn and Kathy were high school sweethearts and shared 61 years of marriage and beautiful memories together. They built a life centered around their family, home, and the many adventures shared along the way. They raised their family at the Jersey shore, where Glenn and Kathy purchased and renovated the home in which their children would grow up. Years later, Glenn built Kathy her dream home on the inlet in Avon-By-The-Sea, New Jersey. Living on the water had long been a dream of hers and making that dream a reality was characteristic of Glenn and the life he devoted to providing for the people he loved. As a custom home contractor in New Jersey for over 40 years, he prided himself on delivering every client their dream home, meticulously in every detail. Some of his projects were even featured in books highlighting New Jersey’s most exquisite homes. They lived in the Avon home for nearly a decade before ultimately retiring to Wilmington North Carolina in 2020 where they became members of Landfall Country Club and continued enjoying the life they had built together throughout his life and career.

Glenn was always known for his integrity and generosity. Those who worked alongside him, did business with him, or simply spent time in his company, knew that these were not qualities he just spoke about, but ones he lived. He believed in treating people the way he would want to be treated himself, and he carried that simple principle with him throughout his life. Whether in business with friends or with family, Glenn was generous with his time, his knowledge, and what he had. He was always willing to lend a hand. To those who knew him best. his generosity and strength of character were among the qualities that defined him.

Glenn was an accomplished pilot and held private and commercial pilot certificates, as well as an instrument rating. His love of flying became something he and Kathy shared. He eventually bought his own private plane. He taught Kathy to fly as well. For many years the two traveled the East Coast by airplane, often at a moment’s notice, visiting countless small airports and towns for vacations, golf, and simply the enjoyment of going somewhere new together. They were truly each other’s best friend.

Flying was one of Glenn's great passions, and many of those trips were planned around another of his favorite pursuits; Golf. An avid golfer, Glenn enjoyed the game throughout his life. He and Kathy frequently combine their love of travel, flying, and golf, turning ordinary trips into adventures and creating memories together throughout the coast. But of all the things Glenn accomplished and enjoyed during his life, nothing meant more to him than Kathy and his family. Kathy was his high school sweetheart, his wife, his traveling companion, and his partner throughout more than six decades of life together. She was his pride and joy, and he showed that in all that he did every day.

Glenn is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Kathy; his son, Glenn Jr and his wife, Stephanie; his daughter, Stephanie and her partner, Kelly, of New Jersey; and his granddaughters, Kaitlin and Alexandra and her husband, Gunner.

A Celebration of Life will be held in New Jersey from 4:00pm to 8:00pm Friday, November 6, 2026, in the Marina Building at Avon-By-The-Sea Riverfront Park.
