Hazel Lanier Johnson

Hazel Lanier Johnson, 92, of Cary passed away Monday, July 08, 2013 at the residence of her daughter She was born on July 7, 1921 in Maple Hill, NC to the late William Arthur Lanier and Katie Raynor Lanier. Hazel is also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, George Robinson Johnson and brothers, Tommy Lanier and Lucas Lanier. Hazel is survived by her son, G. Robert (Bob) Johnson (Ann) of Greensboro, NC; daughter, Shirley Johnson Peay (Dwight) of Fuquay-Varina, NC; brother, Harvey Lanier (Ann) of Titusville, FL; grandchildren, Steven Wayne Johnson (Jennifer) of Mooresville, NC, Michael Alan Johnson (Kelly) of Greensboro, NC, Dennis Peay (Cherilyn) of Bethel, NC, Elizabeth Peay Todd (Leslie) of Fuquay-Varina, NC and Sarah Peay Baxter (Jeff) of Rincon, GA; great grandchildren, Bryce Johnson, Katie Johnson, Megan Johnson, Natalie Johnson, Natasha and James Peay, Natalie and Luke Todd, and Bailey and Wyatt Baxter. Hazel was a former bookkeeper with the City of Wilmington. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Chapter 142 and a member of Sunset Park Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel from 10:00- 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 10, 2013 with a graveside service to immediately follow at 11:30am at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
