

Helen Ruth Marshall Barnhill, 76, of Wilmington, died at home, November 17, 2009, surrounded by her family after a long illness. Helen was born July 12, 1933 in Wilmington, NC, the daughter of the late George and Annie Marshall. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Clifton ""Barney"" Barnhill and her grandson, Richard Skipper and his fiancée Jennifer Schooler. Helen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints. She was an advent geneologist and spent many years studying and teaching geneology. She also loved the youth and spent many years as a primary teacher. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Helen is survived by her son, Jerry Wayne Barnhill and his wife Regina of Rocky Point; a daughter, Sandra Gail Sneeden and her husband Russell of Atkinson; a daughter, Laurie Skipper Gray and her husband Ed of Castle Hayne; a daughter, Hope Barnhill of the home and a daughter, Faith Gore of Wilmington. She is also survived 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter and many other relatives, friends and loved ones. The family will receive relatives and friends 7-9 PM Thursday at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel where services will be held at 11AM Friday with Reggie Brew officiating. Interment will follow in Prospect Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bubba Skipper, Craig Mintz, Clifton Barnhill, Rusty Sneeden, Jimmy Hammonds and Aaron Mintz. The family would like to extend a ""Thank You"" to Lower Cape Fear Hospice for their care and support.
