Helen was born to David Edward Jones and Helen Klein Jones on December 13, 1934, in Edenton, NC. She was raised in Greenville, North Carolina, where she met her husband, William Nelson Best. Before settling in Leland, the couple lived across the state raising their family. Together, they were proudly involved in community athletics throughout Brunswick County. Mrs. Best served as a secretary at Leland Middle School for nearly twenty years. Helen was an active member of the Woodburn Presbyterian Church and the Magnolia Greens Community and worked alongside her husband to establish the Leland Hot Stove; a local nonprofit organization. Her interests included bridge, other card games, sports, and she had a passion for animals. Helen was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.
The family would like to express their gratitude to her long-term caregivers, Barbara and Gladys, for their love and kindness.
