
Helen Humphrey Quinn, 79, died Sunday, October 25 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. She was a native of Onslow County, and, in addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband ""Jay"" Quinn and her son, Jim Quinn. Mrs. Quinn moved to Wilmington with her late husband in 1972. Helen was an active member of St. James Episcopal Church, where she served on the Altar Guild for many years. She was an avid supporter of the New Hanover Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, clocking in more than 7, 500 volunteer hours. She served several terms on the state board of Hospital Volunteers. She enjoyed working on her many hobbies with friends, including painting, needlepoint, sewing and working with miniatures. She enjoyed her summers at Wrightsville Beach. Mrs. Quinn is survived by her daughter, Lee Stroud and a granddaughter, Julie Quinn Stroud of Jacksonville, NC and a grandson, Michael Stroud of Wrightsville Beach, NC. Graveside services will be held at Oleander Memorial Gardens, Wednesday, October 28 at 11:00, with the Reverend Stephen Mazingo officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James Episcopal Church, 25 S. 3rd Street, Wilmington, NC 28401 or to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 2222 South 17th Street, Wilmington, NC 28401.
