Helen Elizabeth Weiss, 88, of Wilmington, NC, and formerly of Sandusky, OH, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2009, at home in Wilmington. She was born in Mingo Junction, OH, August 4, 1921, daughter of the late Anna Sabol Byers. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and more recently St. Therese Catholic Church in Wrightsville Beach. Helen was an avid bridge player and loved to golf. She enjoyed the programs at the Senior Center and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Surviving are three children, Ann LaReau and husband, Ron of Wilmington, NC, and Regis A. Weiss and wife, Sandy, and E. Eric Weiss and wife, Vickie all of Sandusky, OH; six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Three brothers, Edward, James, and George, Jr. Dody Byers preceded her in death. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2009, at St. Therese Catholic Church, 207 South Lumina Avenue, Wrightsville Beach. Immediately following the service, a celebration of Helen's life will take place at the church.
