"Killer" Klander was a major piece of my life. I came to UNCW in 1973 not knowing anyone or anything about Wilmington other than it was near the beach. Met Wayne while I was a fraternity " pledge" possibility. He was a local and easily approachable person and that meant everything to me at the time. I will always remember "my Brother" H. Wayne Klander. RIP brother.

We shared so many good times together we could never write a book. It would be 2 or 3 books. From the time we met as young guys sweeping carpets at the Putt Putt beside your home to the hundreds of trips we made around the MILJO it was one big laugh. I know, I owe you twenty dollars as I was the one to get married first. I have nothing but great memories of being around you and your Mom and Dad. Rest in piece my brother. One day we will have another laugh.

Wayne and I met at Winter Park Elementary School in the 5th grade, became good friends and remained good friends for 60 years. We went through school together and graduated from UNCW at the same time. My career took me away from the Wilmington area for many years, but we always stayed in touch and enjoyed getting together for golf at Muni or Paul’s Place for hot dogs. Thanks for the great memories Wayne. RIP my friend.

Wayne was just an all around good guy. He was well liked by his fellow Legionnaires and many other friends. It was very seldom you didn't see him without a smile on his face and he was always a pleasure to be around. His passing will leave this earth a little less happy place to be . He will be missed by all. Harry Pridgen

My dear old buddy Wayne was always a loyal frat brother and true friend. I 've known Wayne since 1973 as a member of the same TKE fraternity. I fondly remember him at home when I would occasionally check in on him to see what was going on with him. He was just a very good fellow who loved his friends and family. God rest his soul, he will be missed.
