Hildegard T. Tyson

A visitation will be Monday, February 6, 2012 from 4 to 5 PM at Coble Ward-Smith, Oleander Chapel. A funeral service will be Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Sam Zumwalt. A brief graveside service will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

She is survived by her son Jason Randolph Tyson and a daughter Mary Woodruff. She also has three grandsons, Brandon Tyson, Chris Tyson, and Tony Woodruff; one granddaughter, Kiesha Woodruff; three great-granddaughters, Morgan, Molly, and Amber; four sisters, Katherine (Edgel), Trudy (John), Jenie, and Urma. She also has a special nephew Bobby Tyson and wife LaMonn of Pink Hill, NC, and her closest and very dearest friend, Ardena Kelly, of Kelly, NC.

Hilda was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, SFC Lonnie Tyson, US Army Retired and her brother Alolis Niedermeir, who was in the German Military and died at Normandy on June 6, 1944.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Wilmington Police Department Benevolent Association, 615 Bess Street, Wilmington, NC 28402.

The family would like to thank Dr. Oster, Dr. Eakins, and all of the medical staff and attendees at New Hanover Regional Hospital for their special care over the years.
